Blue Skies
The weather has cleared up! We started the day with lectures as usual and in the afternoon my group headed to the sea ice, but to the sampling hole that’s further away from the station, which means packing cars!
Because today we were actually sampling we moved our gear to sleds that we pulled by snow mobiles. It was very fun being pulled by snow mobiles on the sleds on top of our survival bags!
The view today was amazing because the sky was clear and we could finally see mount Erebus!
We have samples of water at different depths that we are collecting salinity and temperature data throughout the water column and hopefully by the end of the course we will have a time series of these data. We have also collected phytoplankton and plankton samples from this hole that gives access to deep water.
Also, the penguins came back to say hello to us again!
